Product Description
The Simpson Strong-Tie® DTT2Z® tension tie is a safe, cost-effective way to attach deck-railing posts to the deck framing for stronger, safer railings. Because the post is tied back into the deck joists, rather than to the rim joist alone, the connection is stronger than typical through-bolt installations. The DTT2Z is also ideal for guardrail-post connections and lateral-load connections between the deck and house.

Installation

- DTT2Z and DTT2SS are installed on the wide face of a single or double 2x member
- Acceptable anchorage includes a 1/2"-diameter bolt or anchor bolt
- A standard cut washer (included) must be installed between the nut and the seat
- Strong-Drive® SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screws (SDS) install with a 3/8" hex-head driver (Model BITHEXR38-R1)
- For DTT2SS installations, use only stainless steel fasteners in corrosive or high-exposure environments
